Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

Well, I pre-ordered the premium edition on steam, the key thing was the one-time payment versus a subscription. Looks like it is time to delete the FSX: Steam and all the DLC's to make room

Does steam have options for which version you purchase?

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

I first started on Bruce Artwick's v.2 on my C64 (I just dated myself, didn't I?)
Don't feel too bad about dating yourself I still have a copy of sublogic flight simulator before Microsoft bought them out, so that puts us in the same boat.

Yes Flight Simulators have come along way since those days

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

Having Microsoft Flight simulator from the early days back in the 1980s and X-Plane since version 8, I have always felt X-Plane aircraft was at least a level or two above Microsft aircraft (what you get out of the box). I think Microsoft did a disservice by putting in a default GPS in the airliners ...

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

I have read several reports by some major third-party developers that the SDK is not finished yet and the process is awkward and inefficient at the best right because all the tools are being developed separately and haven't been merged to work together in a smooth process. We as an airline are stuck...

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

In the interest of not reinventing the wheel, there appears to be an abundance of FMS tutorials on youtube. Maybe we could evaluate those and pick the best ones and provide the links in the training section of the website? I like that Idea also, in fact, have already started sifting through the ava...

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

So Far I have resisted the urge to pre-buy MSFS2020, I may pre-purchase the premium version after the initial rush settles down a bit. After slowing down and reading the press release several times, I have come to the same conclusion as Kim. It does say there are over 37,000 airports are included FS...

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

X-Plane 11 has become my primary sim, and yes there is a bit of a learning curve to using an FMC vs a GPS. The Default FMC that comes with X-Plane 11 is a good one to start out with. It does not have the advanced bell and whistles the come with payware aircraft with custom FMC's, and a lot of freewa...

Re: Flight Simulator "DEFAULT" Air Traffic Control

I use Pilot2ATC myself, Voice Recognition, and should voice recognition fail you can select a phrase close to what you want in the say it menu. You can also declare emergencies. while not 100% accurate, it is a lot better at not directing your descent into terrain on approach. Can plan VFR and IFR W...

Re: Laminar Research "Vulcan" progress report

I did a couple of test circuits at KSEA and Vulcan is a game-changer. first, with my settings as they were in 11.41, I noted about a 25 frame per second increase with Vulcan. Second I was able to max out the world objects and reflection detail sliders for the CPU and also the lighting and texture sl...
