Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

A thanks to both Kim and Brian. My history on the hobby is a little spotty, early FS, back to SubLogic days and then into FSX-SE (Steam Edition), because of the price. Between that time, I was workiing a fuller then full time job. Not much time to fly flightsim or any thing else. I did manage to squ...

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

Some areas that are immediately of concern, can we introduce WestWind paint and hub scenery into it. From a WestWind perspective, these are big. I'm sure you can do it, but what the process will be is really interesting. To do these, based on past simulator structures, we will need some sort of acce...

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

In the interest of not reinventing the wheel, there appears to be an abundance of FMS tutorials on YouTube. Maybe we could evaluate those and pick the best ones and provide the links in the training section of the website
I like this idea.

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

Using the FMC having to go thru the STAR's, SID's and all the other stuff you need to program with is not something I think I will enjoy once I get it to work. Paul, Bob's right... Using an FMC/FMS requires "planning" of what ever route you use to fly from one point to another. I have use...

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

All I can say is buyer be ware, and proceed with caution. There are so many unanswered questions regarding this. Lets see what the community is saying once it's released. Everyone should be on their guard to really make sure that the upgrade is best. We are not sure that the simulator will permit a ...

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

Paul, Aircraft that have an FMS/FMC as its navigation system have the FMS/FMC. There is a misnomer here as a Flight Management System manages a little more then the navigation. The "auto-pilot" is also linked into the the FMS too. X-Plane being a newer sim package goes more with the latest...

Re: FSX Graphics Setting

FSX does not use whatever RAM that is available in the computer. It only allocates a total of 4MB of program memory, allocated in the RAM you may have on your computer. FSX was written and designed under 32 bit architecture. Because the addressing variable was defined as an integer, that's the reaso...

Re: FSX Graphics Setting

In FSX, texture loading to change scenery, or views are being pushed into the program's available memory. The common term is VAS. Textures are rendered last in the view, so you can get a scene where the plane looks blank or are missing. Obviously, the more complex the plane, the more the delay. It a...
