Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

In the interest of not reinventing the wheel, there appears to be an abundance of FMS tutorials on youtube. Maybe we could evaluate those and pick the best ones and provide the links in the training section of the website? I like that Idea also, in fact, have already started sifting through the ava...

Re: FS 2020 to be released in August

So Far I have resisted the urge to pre-buy MSFS2020, I may pre-purchase the premium version after the initial rush settles down a bit. After slowing down and reading the press release several times, I have come to the same conclusion as Kim. It does say there are over 37,000 airports are included FS...

Re: X Plane 11 and FMC's

X-Plane 11 has become my primary sim, and yes there is a bit of a learning curve to using an FMC vs a GPS. The Default FMC that comes with X-Plane 11 is a good one to start out with. It does not have the advanced bell and whistles the come with payware aircraft with custom FMC's, and a lot of freewa...

Re: Flight Simulator "DEFAULT" Air Traffic Control

I use Pilot2ATC myself, Voice Recognition, and should voice recognition fail you can select a phrase close to what you want in the say it menu. You can also declare emergencies. while not 100% accurate, it is a lot better at not directing your descent into terrain on approach. Can plan VFR and IFR W...

Re: Laminar Research "Vulcan" progress report

I did a couple of test circuits at KSEA and Vulcan is a game-changer. first, with my settings as they were in 11.41, I noted about a 25 frame per second increase with Vulcan. Second I was able to max out the world objects and reflection detail sliders for the CPU and also the lighting and texture sl...

Re: Firefighting with X-Plane 11

Note that the C130 from XHanger is only $20 and a lot better than the one that came with X-Plane. XHanger's C130 also has two models preconfigured for firefighting. One with the MAFFS system and One with the new Coulson system which delivers twice as much retardant in half the time as the MAFFS syst...

Firefighting with X-Plane 11

I found this thread which explains how to turn on the forest fires in X-Plane 11. there is also a link to download files that explain how to modify the aircraft if it is not already set up for firefighting.

Re: X-Plane 11 Default 747-400

Yes, I normally don't make flights that long either but decided to try and kill two or three birds with one stone and ending up not even getting one. Usually when I make flights that long I use time compression during the cruise phase to shorten the time frame. I will be making a Westwind Paint for ...

X-Plane 11 Default 747-400

I discovered a bug in the Default 747 in X-Plane 11, where the Frame Rates in the sim will drop after a few hours of flight. In my case, it was around the 3 1/2 to 4-hour mark on a 6-hour flight. The Frame Rates dropped from 40+ down to 10-15 frames and never recovered. I had to shut down the sim an...
