Laminar Research "Vulcan" progress report

Post by BobSturm »

Here is an update on the progress of the development of "Vulcan" a replacement for OpenGL: https://developer.x-plane.com/2019/12/v ... dtV9hiNlI Vulcan will be used with X-Plane 11.50 (That's the plan anyway).
Now if you are not quite sure what all that tech talk was all about, here is a link to a article that explains the benefit of Vulcan. Enjoy!

I did a couple of test circuits at KSEA and Vulcan is a game-changer. first, with my settings as they were in 11.41, I noted about a 25 frame per second increase with Vulcan. Second I was able to max out the world objects and reflection detail sliders for the CPU and also the lighting and texture sliders for the GPU and still get about the same performance I had with open GL

I'm going to hold out for awhile. Give them time to work out the bugs. I'm pleased with performance with 11.41 This has been such an improvement over FSX. Flight characteristics are so much better, as are graphics.
