I saw it, and with ortho and UHD mesh I think it will be competitive with MSFS.
Although some are saying it going to be X-Plane 11.60 that has never been published, "Next Gen" tells me that it will be X-Plane 12 before we see that in the sim.

Agreed.

But honestly how excellent is XP11 as is?

I know there are flaws but I did a flight recently in unmodified, unimproved base level FS9 and the difference is shocking.
And also, FS9 is pretty cool.
I still remember trying to get a 747 to take off on an IBM PC in the 1980s.

Comparisons of MSFS to X-Plane done by real world pilots and flight instructors choose X-Plane hands down for realistic flight characteristics, and that is why I switched to X-Plane. I have owned EVERY Microsoft Flight simulator through FSX. I stuck with FS9 to the end. I never liked FSX. I can't really speak for MSFS 2020 because I haven't, and won't, try it. I have only seen comparisons and reviews on YouTube, and none of those impressed me. I too was skeptical about X-Plane, but now that I have had it going on 2 years, I will never go back to Microsoft (even if someone else is actually doing the development). I believe there is a great future with X-Plane.
