Thanks, Bob, It is nice to see others looking forward to X-Plane 12 as I am. I think it will hold its own against MSFS

Yea, I just hope it will run decently on my system which is already 2 years old. The story of my life: always one step behind the next genetation of flight sims.

Here is a great article regarding x-plane aerodynamics. It is long but very well explained and demonstrates how thoroughly x-plane is designed to simulate real aerodynamics.

I always felt X-Plane had the edge on aerodynamics or physics. IE the way the aircraft interacts with the environment. My IRL flight instructor even preferred X-Plane over Microsoft in some cases. He use X-Plane to teach me the crossed controls method for landing in a crosswind'

Back when X-Plane 8 was the new kid on the block, I gained the appreciation of X-Plane aircraft over then FS95. if there was something pacific about an airplane it was X-Plane that got pulled up. But for going from point A to B it was the current version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. The graphics and scenery improvements in X-Plane 11 were a game-changer for Me. When My FSX crashed into the 32 bit 4 gig memory limit, I thought it would be P3D that would pick up the main simulator role. but as more addons such as Air Hauler and FS Passengers became available for both platforms I was buying X-Plane products first then catching up in P3D. Footnote FS Passenger never developed a version for X-Plane but Xplane had a program X passengers.

I admit Microsoft is the clear winner in the Scenery department but feel their aerodynamics and physics took a few steps backward in my opinion.

As a former real world pilot. I was sold on X-Plane the first time I flew it. I fly high and IFR , so scenery is not a issue for me. I didn't care for XP-9 because of the lack of scenery, but XP-11 changed all of that. After reading that article about the aerodynamics of the wing and the work done to tweek it for the F-4, I was really impressed. I also like the fact that X-plane allows users to modify the airport scenery and make it available to everyone. I have done a few, and now that I have been flying in other areas of the world, I will do the ones being neglected. The US is pretty well covered.
