I downloaded MSFS24 and copied my PMDG folders over. While I still have a long way to go in mapping my yoke, quad, overhead, etc, a sigh of relief seeing the PMDG 738 with our paint! Wahoo!

That is surprising as PMDG says it not compatible. I be interested in knowing what works and doesn't work for that plane.
P.S. I have not figured out how to copy things over. I can't find the community folder for 2024

The Community folder in 2024 is pretty much in the same place, but with a slight twist…

Microsoft Store/Xbox App Version:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages

Steam Version:
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Community

I don't have the Steam version, so I can't verify this location.

Moving the folders over was super easy, but I’m a long way from knowing whether she’ll fly as all of my controls need to be remapped. Ugg. I’m in no rush and I’m just going to take my time switching everything over. Like you, Sean, I left 2020 in place and will continue to be my primary sim for quite some time.

Sorry guys,

I was just getting over that virus when one of my back teeth broke apart and laid me up in pain for a few days. Got it yanked out on Friday afternoon and just now getting back to normal from that... Dang run of bad luck. :( Hopefully Thanksgiving week will be better. I have Thursday and Friday off from work, so it'll be a four-day weekend. YaY!!

Glad to see the sim accepted the PMDG 737, but IIRC, i saw somewhere that PMDG said that most of their planes have had cumulative memory troubles in MSFS 2024 I.E. memory doesn't free up properly and after a while and the instruments will stop working and other issues crop up. Surprisingly, the DC-6 doesn't appear to be affected but all of the other releases are to one degree or another.

Dang... sorry to hear about your health issues, Don. Especially a broken tooth! Ugg!

I'm going to start getting my yoke, throttle quad and rudder pedals mapped and try to take the 737 for a spin. It's interesting reading how people are experiencing different outcomes with the 737 - some have no issues while others can't even get it into the sim. The 777 sounds like a bigger issue with the number of API conflicts involved and I haven't read where anyone has been successful in getting her airborne. Bummer.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but it sounds like we'll be shelling out more money on new PMDG products.

I would hold off from proclaiming doom and gloom for now. There's already been on major update and there will be others coming. Most people apparently missed a very specific statement by Jorg about the release that a lot of the sim wasn't going to be open on day one because of the new streaming system. A lot of the issues being reported seem to be related to things that required external injection into the sim (like PMDG). Meanwhile, developers who chose to stay within the SDK and not inject (like Fenix) are having very little if any issues because they don't require looking at things that may or may not be open yet.

Could Asobo have done better laying out the release in writing? Yep. They relied a lot on a few media sites reporting Jorg's comments and their live streams to get the information out, something that not much of the community follows.

Just to clarify - the plan as stated by Jorg was to release with a lot of the 3rd party stuff and marketplace DISABLED until they could confirm that the streaming was stable. Once that was good, then they'd start opening up the Marketplace and 3rd Party things and the full SDK. But *not* before then. So everyone claiming to not have known was due to poor communication, or just as likely, confirmation bias. They heard "2020 addons should work in 2024" as being "they'll work from day one" and now that it didn't happen, they're freaking out because no one can have a balanced reaction anymore.

I will also point out that the *BIGGEST* issue right now is that the servers were only stress tested for 120,000 simultaneous connections. They've still not been able to get the Azure Server Team to fix that issue fully. Until they do, there's no point in talking about anything addons because Asobo can't do anything about continuing with the release plan until that is fixed. Once that happens, then we'll see what the actual plan ends up being.

I had an interruption of internet service yesterday while looking at the career mode, and the SIM just shut down without warning.

I can confirm that most - if not all - liveries done for MSFS 2020 will carry over successfully to MSFS 2024. At least for the planes that have existed in MSFS 2020 previously. The add-on linker available from Flightsim.to works as well.

Thanks, Don.
I do have one question about the add-on linker,

Is that supposed to be the new add-on linker community folder or the default game folder which I can not find as of yet?
